Pleats Please Divine Serpentine Dress by Cai Guo Qiang, UK10-12
A divine long serpentine column dress by Pleats Please, Series no.4, by Guest Artist Cai Guo Qiang, the Chinese artist known for his spectacularly beautiful and transitory pyrotechnics. This incredible glamorous creation is from the personal collection of film costume designer Annie Symons, in fact is the dress she wore when she won the BAFTA for her costume design on Worried About the Boy in 2011.
The gown is the colour of tree bark and has a simple shape that belies its elaborate construction, curving around the body in a series of right angled panels down to an asymmetric fishtail point where it meets the floor. The sleeves echo the sinuous shape, panelling and asymmetric point on one side only. Simply awe inspiring.
