Antique Central Asian Tunic in Red Silk with Gold Stripe and Embroidered Neck
A rich antique Central Asian tunic or kurta in dark red heavy raw silk with gold stripe.
Traditionally worn by the Turkoman women, the tunic is hand woven and hand stitched. Mid calf length with long sleeves, delicately embroidered around the neck.
Provenance: This tunic is from the collection of a lady who travelled extensively in the Middle and Far East. She journeyed overland through Central Asia, Afghanistan and India on the hippy trail in the 1970s, and returned many times until her death in 2021. No documentation is available.
