Iran Crisis Emergency Appeal

 

For the past 18 years the OMID Foundation has been empowering marginalised young women in Iran, often traumatised by neglect, violence and abuse.  Now more than ever young women in Iran face danger, discrimination and abuses which are fuelled by tradition and encouraged by the state.  The current crisis in Iran is escalating the targeting and oppressing of women using horrific violence.

 

The Foundation provides opportunities to transform these young lives through education, training, self-empowerment and community engagement.  They provide peer groups offering safety and support, education and life skill training, as well as trauma counselling with expert practitioners.  Their groups of local professionals also work with members of the wider community to increase awareness of both mental health issues resulting from trauma, and available resources, to reduce stigma and prepare young women to succeed in the future.
