An incredible vintage piece by British Boutique designer Catherine Buckley from the late 1970s, this is Jimi Hendrix meets Downton Abbey. The cut is dramatic enough, with a floor length A line skirt and hip length button-up long sleeved jacket with fitted bodice and mandarin collar.
But the thing that draws the eye here is the incredible fabric, created by Veronica Holden using ‘Shibori’ technique , a sophisticated version of tie & dye on velvet. The base colours are bruise pinks and purples, with slashes of contrasting yellow, all in a soft plush velvet. The buttons are looped in the same fabric and in very good condition. A really wonderful garment.
