An amazing vintage skirt suit in indigo crushed velvet by British Boutique designer Catherine Buckley, late 1970s.
The pencil skirt is fitted to below the knee. The jacket is extraordinary, with huge batwings that gather into a wide waistband. It buttons up the front with large looped covered buttons in matching fabric, up to a high round collar. The material is in absolutely stunning shades of indigo and blue, softly crushed cotton velvet.
Material: No label - probably cotton velvet
Size: Estimate UK 10-12
Measurements (laid flat):
Neck to sleeve cuff: 74cm
Bust (armpit to armpit): 154cm
Collar to hem: 74cm
Skirt Waist: 72cm
Hips: 96 cm
Skirt Length: 64cm
Condition: Very Good Vintage condition. The fabric is still strong and soft, although there is some discolouration. At some point the hem has been taken up rather crudely, and stuck on the inside with what looks like glue. This has come unstuck so it is a relatively easy job to fix the hem with some tape, we have not done so as then it makes it harder to adjust. We can certainly do this to order for a fee or any dry cleaner / mending service should be able to make it good. There is a button missing.
Note: All of our pieces have had a life of their own, and may show minor signs of wear as befits a vintage or pre worn item. They have all been professionally cleaned and inspected and any faults will be indicated in the listing.
