A fabulous large 1950s vintage silk square or carré by Hermes, "Brides de Gala", 1957.
An original 1957 issue of a design by Hugo Grygkar (1907-1959), one of their most popular and prolific artists, who designed over 100 carrés for Hermès.
The design depicts a pair of ceremonial bridles in grey and gold, with a blue border ; it has become one of the most iconic Hermes squares ever.
Hand rolled hem.
